This is a site born out of a rekindled interest in watches and watch collecting. In my youth I had a small if poorly looked after collection of fashion watches that have long since gone to the grave. Many years later and hopefully a little wiser I have returned to watch collecting rather unexpectedly, and I have become hooked.
This blog and all of its meanderings is my exploration of watch collecting and horology, it will be seen through the eyes of a novice who will hopefully learn as he goes. I hope it will be an insight into the beginnings of watch collecting as a hobby and everything that such a hobby entails.
So what can you expect from this blog? I think that question is a bit of a work in progress, I am not 100% sure I know yet.
I will share my experiences collecting affordable watches, from what made me buy them to what I look for in a watch. I would like to write some reviews of watches I own (this in itself is a little daunting to me as I am not sure I have the correct vocabulary to even start that yet) and maybe talk a little about maintenance of watches. I would like to talk about upcoming watches including developments and events in the wider watch world.
I doubt I will have the best prose and I may well fall into the one trap or another along the way, but I am passionate about watches (even in the short time I have been collecting) and I think a blog is a fine way to share that passion. I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I plan to and I hope that you find interest and inspiration in these pages.
